If you travel by car:
Directions for approaching the Salisbury Hotel or Gabbro Restaurant are as follows:
From West: via M8, A8, take A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exit A7 City Centre to CameronToll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx. 3 miles; at the Commonwealth Pool (right hand side) and the Craggs Bar (left hand side) there are traffic lights - turn left onto Salisbury Road and the Salisbury Hotel is situated on Right Hand side at the bottom of the street.
Alternatively access the Salisbury via Edinburgh City Centre as follows: via M8 (City Bypass North), M9, A8, M90 signs City Centre then Corstorphine, Haymarket, Lothian Road, Meadows, Dalkeith Road (Commonwealth Pool) and opposite the Commonwealth Pool Traffic Lights select the Right Hand filter land and turn onto Salisbury Road - the hotel is situated approx 200m down street on Right Hand Side.
From East: M1/A1 - take signs for Forth Bridge / Airport to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exist A7 City Centre to Cameron Toll roundabout and follow round under railway bfridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx approx. 3 miles; at the Commonwealth Pool (right hand side) and the Craggs Bar (left hand side) there are traffic lights - turn left onto Salisbury Road and the Salisbury Hotel is situated on Right Hand side at the bottom of the street.
Alternatively stay on A1 (bypass signs for Forth Bridge) and take for City Centre / Leith to exit sign posted Craigmiller/Musselburgh (B&Q, Wickes and Fort Kinnaird Shopping Centre can be seen from road just before exit) At roundabout, left, over roundabout, and stay on main road through shopping centre to Cameron Toll Roundabout; go right around rounabout (4th exit) onto Dalkeith Road (A7) - up to Commonwealth Pool / Craggs bar and turn left onto Salisbury Road.
From South: From M64/Carlisle/Biggar/Peebles join A720 at Junction (sign posted for City Bypass South) to Sheriff Hall Roundabout. take exit A7 City Centre to CameronToll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) approx. 3 miles; at the Commonwealth Pool (right hand side) and the Craggs Bar (left hand side) there are traffic lights - turn left onto Salisbury Road and the Salisbury Hotel is situated on Right Hand side at the bottom of the street.
From North: M90 via Forth Bridge, sign posted Edinburgh City Centre (A90) Queensferry Road, Queensferry Street, Melville Street, Shandwick Place, Lothian Road, Meadows, Dalkeith Road (Commonwealth Pool) turn right at lights using filter lane and onto Salisbury Road and the Salisbury Hotel is situated approx 2oom down street on Right Hand Side.
From North: M9 /A8 — take A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exit A7 City Centre to CameronToll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) approx. 3 miles; at the Commonwealth Pool (right hand side) and the Craggs Bar (left hand side) there are traffic lights - turn left onto Salisbury Road and the Salisbury Hotel is situated on Right Hand side at the bottom of the street.
If you travel by Bus:
Bus numbers from Princes Street should read : 3, 3A, 31, 37 X37, 47 or 29 ( Lothian Regional Transport ), the bus stop name is Salisbury Road, although you can ask the driver to let you when you reach the first stop on Minto Street. Turn left has you get off the bus and walk back up to the corner, turn right onto Salisbury road and the Salisbury Hotel is located at about 20 metres up the road on the left hand side
If you travel by Train:
There are two train stations in Edinburgh— Waverley and Haymarket. Taxis are available from both stations. If you prefer to walk, Haymarket station is about 25 minutes’ walk and Waverley is about 15 minutes’ walk. Alternatively catch a bus (see above)

If you travel by Air:
The Edinburgh Airport is located to the west of the city, approximately 10 miles from the Salisbury Hotel. Taxi journey time is approximately 25 minutes and will cost approximately £15. Alternatively, there is an inexpensive and frequent bus service to the city centre, approx £3.50 from which a local bus can be caught (see travel by bus above).
