Our key staff
We are pleased to introduce the team who will ensure your stay at the Salisbury and your dining experience in Gabbro is a memorable one!
Our Head Chef Craig Rushton brings with him over 20 years experience together with a real passion for modern cuisine. He and his team bring together the finest of Scottish ingredients including local caught fish and seafood alongside the best of aged beef, game and poultry to ensure you enjoy an expertly prepared meal executed with a fine flair for taste combinations and presentation. Previous experience as Head Chef at Iggs and Howies ensures the highest standards of product sourcing, menu design, quality standards and kitchen management to ensure you enjoy a consistent and enjoyable dining experience at Gabbro. All food is prepared in the kitchen and a ’specials’ board features signature dishes for weekends.
Stephen Brock is our Front of House Manager, having relocated from Lancashire (Burnley), England to Edinburgh, Scotland. Stephen holds a degree in Business Administration with honours gained through the Manchester Metropolitan University. He brings with him prior experience from Le Meridian hotels alongside an excellent history of customer care, guest relations and front of house services. Stephen has a wide taste in music and enjoys karaoke, having won two competitions in the past. He is also a keen web-site designer, having gained an NCFE in telematics level 3 internet design and navigation.
Jennifer Morrison is our Restaurant Manager, previously from Mar Hall near Glasgow, she brings with her 5* experience in food and wine service not to mention a friendly smile! Her main interest is playing curling at Championship level for Scotland (she has lots of trophies!) and music as well as studying for her degree in Sports Science.
Sam Clarke, Head Waiter is another key member of the team. In our critically acclaimed restaurant, Gabbro, he brings a dash of Canadian flair together with his charm, wit and excellent service standards gained working at the Edinburgh Castle fine dining restaurant. Currently studying at the prestigious Edinburgh University in the Physical Education Programme for his degree in Teaching Sports & PE, Sam divides his time between his academic commitments, his central role here at ‘The Salisbury’ and his hectic social life. He brings with him a wealth of experience after spending two years at one of Edinburgh’s premier events venues.
We have a strong team of Guestroom Assistants who are responsible for ensuring that your room is spotlessly clean and comfortable for your arrival.
All together we form a very strong team, based on respect for each other and the hotel guests; everyone pulls together and there is a strong sense of solid values - everyone has a good sense of humour to help get through the various challenges that a busy hotel brings.
We hope you enjoy meeting our team and getting to know them whilst staying at the Salisbury!
